Cidade histórica, Ouro Preto está a 95 quilômetros de Belo Horizonte. É um lugar imperdível. A vila colonial do século 18 foi declarada patrimônio mundial pela Unesco em 1980. Entre vales e paredões, a viagem oferece uma paisagem inesquecível. Em Mariana, além da arquitetura colonial, outro espetáculo é feito pelo órgão Schnitger, um instrumento alemão do início do século 18. O som vem dos mais de 1 mil tubos da peça. Os concertos ocorrem na Catedral da Sé, nas manhãs de sexta-feira e de domingo.

Historic city, Ouro Preto is 59 miles far from Belo Horizonte. It’s an unmissible site. Named Vila Rica on that times, it was the main village of Minas Gerais in the age of the gold extraction and became, afterward, the capital of the state. From there came the wealth that provided Portugal, when Brazil was a portuguese colony.

Museums, cultural centers and population help to discover its history, wich is also Minas Gerais and brazilian roots. Tiradentes Square is the mark of the visit, symbol of the revolution that tried to stop the portuguese domain. On all sides, oratories, fountains and bridges tell about characters and the events in Ouro Preto. To enjoy, choose some hotel or some of the charming inns available in the village. Restaurants which offer the typical food of Minas Gerais must be visited. As well handicrafts and gemstones stores, even if you want just to appreciate art.

Few miles from Ouro Preto, Mariana village is another historic site. To go there, take the tourist train and, for one hour, have a fabulous experience. Between valleys and walls, the trip offers an unforgettable landscape. At Mariana, beyond the colonial architecture, another spectacle is made by Schnitger organ, a Germany instrument from the beginning of the 18th century. The sound comes from over than 1.000 pipes. Concerts are made in Se Cathedral, on Fridays and Sundays mornings.
